Me in front of one of my paintings
Gallery show
I was born in New York City and have for many years lived a geographically double life, in Rochester, Vermont and Brooklyn, New York. Now that I am retired, I spend roughly equal portions of the year in each place. My migrations keep the landscape fresh for me. Country and city are each a visual shock when I arrive.
While I have never made my living solely from painting, I have, over the years, undertaken a lot of art education. I attended the High School of Music and Art, and first learned there to paint in oils. I took painting classes at the Columbia University School of the Arts, and studied painting at the Art Students League and, most recently, the School of Visual Arts, in New York City. Over the years I have participated in many art workshops. In workshops and classes, the artist/teachers who have influenced me most are Wolf Kahn and Peter Fiore. I am a member of Park Slope/Windsor Terrace Arts.
In Brooklyn, my work has been shown in Park Slope at Ossam Gallery, at Shapeshifter Labs, and at BWAC. Every spring I show and sell work at the 15th Street Community Garden Fair,. I am a member of Park Slope/Windsor Terrace Arts and my work can be seen on that group’s website. In Vermont, my paintings have been exhibited in various venues, including the Arts Etc Gallery, Randolph Vermont and the Tunbridge General Store Gallery (solo shows) and at the Chelsea Public Library. Every summer I show and sell my work at the Chelsea Arts Fair in Chelsea Vermont, and the Harvest Fair in Rochester Vermont. I have painted works on commission (house portraits, street scenes) and I am open to further commissions.
